About the Project

The Van Meter Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Meter Van Meter name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Van Meter name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Van Meters), by time period (18th Century Van Meters), or by topic (Van Meter DNA, Van Meter Occupations, Van Meter Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Hi! It's been pointed out to me that this page one one that I had created should probably be merged. If you agree, I'll look into how to do that. I would recommend retaining "Van Meteren", but if you feel "Van Meter" is better, let me know. Cheers, Liz

I asked One Name Studies Project to add me as a manager so that I could merge the two space pages, but was told not to take any action without first talking with Cynthia (or wait until Cynthia has been inactive for a year, whichever comes first).

Cynthia - please contact me.

Thanks!

Thanks for contacting me Cynthia. I'm sending you a private message.

About which page to retain, I've reconsidered... probably retaining Van Meter Name Study would be best (it's more commonly used than Van Meteren).

Cheers, Liz

No objections, so I'll be merging the two pages tonight. Thanks!

There seems to be a second name study that should be subsumed by this one:

Hi again Barry! The One Name Study Project had set up this page in their new format & Van Meter is also the more common version, so I merged Van Meteren Name Study into Van Meter Name Study.

Thanks for pointing out that we had two Name Studies that needed to be combined.

Cheers, Liz
